Hostel Focus: Sir Toby’s, Prague

Following on from last’ week’s look at the chic Sophie’s Hostel in Prague, we are turning our attention to Sophie’s sister (or should we say, brother) hostel, Sir Toby’s, which is also based in Prague (district 7 to be exact).

Housed in an Art Nouveau building, Sir Toby’s is located in the hip and artsy Holešovice district, which has been dubbed “Europe’s coolest neighbourhood”. It’s easy to see why, once the gritty meatpacking district, this cool “hood” is now home to cafes, bars and clubs such as the hipster-esque Záletná Sova (cocktails and beer), the hedonistic Cross Club and Mecca Club.  The local market, Holešovická Tržnice, is worth a visit to pick up a quirky or cheap souvenir and savour some street food (on Saturday its a farmers market so great for local produce). Or if it’s warm out, just grab a picnic, some rollerblades and go for a chill at the nearby, and massive (the largest park in the city in fact), Stromovka park. If you want to go where the locals do, then Holešovice is your place.

So, that’s where Sir Toby’s is – but what about the hostel itself? Ondrej Janku, Sales & Marketing Manager filled us in.

What accommodation is available?

Sir Toby’s offers vintage styled mixed, male or female only dormitories (from 5-bed with single beds to 12-bed with triple bunks) as well as private rooms.

In detail we offer:

  • 6-beds female dorm with private bathroom (1)

What additional facilities or services are on offer?

We have a bar with regular events including beer tasting, trivia nights, concerts and pancake nights. In fact, The Pub is the pulse of our hostel with three Czech beers on tap, Moravian wine, affordable cocktails, warm drinks and home-made dinner. Happy hour is at 8pm.

We also offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast with fresh bread, ham, cheese, fruit, juices, tea and coffee as well as kitchen facilities (there’s a grocery shop just down the street) if you want to whip up your own scrambled eggs! In the summer, our garden terrace comes to life and there are BBQs. Guests can rent bikes and use laundry facilities. We also run a free tour of Holešovice every Thursday at 10.30am.

On top of that, there is free wifi, airport shuttle service, 24/7 reception, luggage storage, coffee corner, transport tickets/passes, elevator, keycard security access.

Sir Toby’s really is a home away from home.
